5 Reasons to Volunteer at Hope Food Pantry
1.Volunteering connects you to the community. When you volunteer at the food pantry, you have the chance to directly interact with the people you are serving. You get to walk alongside people facing difficult situations and encourage them. Volunteering gives you the opportunity to meet people from many walks of life, and it shows you that there truly is a need in Sioux County.
2.Volunteering allows you to use your skills in a productive way. Everyone has been blessed with their own unique gifts and talents, and they can be put to use by volunteering at the food pantry. Some people are great at getting to know guests and encouraging them while others have the physical ability to carry heavy boxes of food to stock the shelves. Everyone can use their skills to serve others.
3.Volunteering provides a sense of purpose. Volunteering regularly gives you a servant’s heart and allows you to find joy in serving those in need in the community. When you help out at a local nonprofit, you see needs in the community, and you have the desire to help. Giving your time and energy allows you to make a difference in the lives of many people. 4.Volunteering helps you stay physically healthy. When you volunteer at the food pantry, you are always moving. Whether you are walking through the aisles with a guest, stocking shelves, or preparing carts for the next guest, there is always something to do. Health benefits associated with being active include lowered blood pressure and reduced risk for heart attacks.
5.Volunteering helps counteract the effects of stress, anger, and anxiety. Simply put, volunteering makes you feel good! Life can be busy but taking the time to slow down and serve refreshes the soul. Studies have shown that helping others releases hormones in the brain that make you feel happy.
Help us make a difference in many lives and restore hope to the community. Sign up to volunteer at Hope Food Pantry today!
